Bike Riding!

In the last two weeks Evan has learned to ride his bike with training wheels - this is the bike that Jeff and I got him for his 3rd birthday, which he had no interest in until a couple of weeks ago. He's doing great! Here are a couple photos and a video of him that I took today. In case you can't hear it in the video, he says "Hi Grandma & Pepere" when he's riding by me. He's excited that Grandma and Pepere will be able to witness this first-hand in just a few days now!

Cow-a-bunga!!

It's been a while since my last post - I am slacking! Let's see, what's new? It was a relaxing weekend at the Pelletier household - no projects, no major plans - just a lot of time outdoors enjoying the beautiful summer weather. We are counting down the days until our little girl makes her debut and trying to keep things low-key. I spent the day Saturday by myself - a first! I was home, but kept to myself the whole day. I had a foot soak, then read my book in my air conditioned bedroom and took a nap. I didn't think those types of activities actually existed anymore once I became a mother!! Jeff spent the entire day relaxing as well - playing with Ev outdoors, taking Ev and Lilly for a hike, watching the Sox, reading his book. He did start to have the shakes a bit around 5pm when he realized he hadn't touched a house project all day, so he decided he needed to edge the grass by our front walk-way. It will be a weaning process for sure, but Jeff did admit how nice it felt to have our major house projects behind us and to just have fun the whole weekend. We went to Rota Spring Farm in Sterling for ice cream Saturday night and Ev had fun feeding the goats. Today we had a leisurely breakfast on the deck and spent the afternoon at the Camp, showing Daddy what a great swimmer Ev has become this summer. He was diving off the dock all day by himself - he is quite the little fish, just like his Auntie Meg! I was only able to lure him out of the water by offering him an ice cream sandwich! All in all, it was a nice, relaxing summer weekend. Here are a couple pictures and a video of Evan swimming....

Happy 4th of July

We had a very low key, but fun and relaxing 4th of July weekend this year. We stayed local - the farthest we traveled was Alpha Road! Uncle Bob rented an excavator and Evan was in his glory watching Uncle Bob dig up roots by his driveway! Of course the highlight was actually sitting in the excavator - pretty neat! As you can see by some of the pictures, Uncle Bob had quite an audience. It was an exciting 4th on Alpha Road for sure!! Evan also had a couple of his neighborhood friends over for a swim in his kiddie pool, we went to Pinecroft for ice cream, and we had a really fun day at the Camp today which was a nice end to our long holiday weekend. It finally feels like summer is here and we hope this nice weather continues throughout the month!

Rainy Day at the Zoo!

On Wednesday we braved the ominous forecast to head to Providence to the Roger Williams Zoo. It was an outing that Ingrid had actually planned for Evan and myself, and Ca and the twins, over a month ago. After rescheduling once already due to sickness, Carolyn, "aka Harvey Leonard" told us she felt we had a 3 hour window of no rain in Providence from 11-2, so we headed out for our trip to the zoo, despite the pouring rain we were getting in Holden. Ca seemed to be correct in her forecast prediction, as the rain let up once we were on the highway and the skies brightened the closer we got to Providence! However, not even 10 minutes after we arrived at the zoo, we heard the first rumbling of thunder and soon after the rains followed. Fortunately, Evan had his Lightning McQueen umbrella which he was quite happy to have open the entire visit! We ended up finding a neat pavillion which housed 2 huge elephants and 4 giraffes. We hung out with the elephants and giraffes all afternoon, ate our picnic lunch, and the kids actually had a ball. It was the closest Evan has ever been to elephants and giraffes - it was really neat! On the way out, we stopped at the greenhouse which was also covered. They were having a limited time only butterfly exhibit which was really neat. All in all, we had a great time and were glad we had continued with our plans. I would like to go back though, as it looked beautiful - very spacious, beautiful grounds, and only 50 minutes from our house! We'll be making a trip back perhaps this fall! Here are a few pictures of our outing - compliments of Ingrid - as my camera was acting up (Jeff has since fixed it, thankfully). We can't be without a camera with the birth of little Miss Baby P right around the corner!! :)

Happy Birthday Memere!

This past Saturday afternoon we helped Memere celebrate her 91st birthday at Auntie Elaine's annual birthday/4th of July party at the lake. Memere looks great and is sharper than ever - I hope we are all as blessed to look and feel as good as she does at 91! Jeff and I were saying how lucky we are to both have had so many great years of memories with our grandmothers, and now Evan is enjoying making wonderful memories with his great grandmothers! Grammy Dot is right behind Memere and about to celebrate her 90th birthday this year. They are both amazing! Auntie Elaine outdid herself as always, with loads of delicious food, patriotic jewelry for the young and old, goodie bags for all the kids, sparklers and a fantastic firework display to end the evening. Despite having spent the entire morning at Edaville Railroad with Thomas the Tank Engine and having had no nap, Evan had a ball with all the Pelletier cousins and didn't want to leave until the fireworks started. We thought for sure he would begin to melt around 5pm, but he never slowed down and told us he wanted to stay until the sparklers. He remembered how much he liked them last year! He decided after the first big boom of the real fireworks that he would rather watch them from across the lake in the car, like we did last year. It's actually a much better view there anyways, and no firework smoke inhalation! Here are a couple pictures from the day.
