A Nice Long Weekend

Here are a couple of pictures and a video that we took over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Sophia experienced a few "firsts" including her 1st Thanksgiving, and her first trip to Deer Run Farm for the annual Pelletier Christmas Tree cutting event. This was the first year it didn't snow while we were cutting down our tree - usually the snow adds to the experience , but Sophia might not have enjoyed it as much if she was cold and snowy so we were glad today was sunny and not too chilly. We've had a wonderful few days together and wish that Jeff didn't have to go back to work tomorrow! Wouldn't life be nice if everyone could just stay home and play all week??!! I guess that's what retirement is for......

All smiles playing in her nightie and booties

A long overdue Sophia update - she's 3 1/2 months old!

So Jeff is away in Denver on his first business trip since Sophia was born. I was a little nervous about being left alone for the nighttime routine because usually Sophia is getting fussy and ready for her bedtime bottle just at the same time that Evan is having his bedtime stories. Jeff usually takes one and I the other. Funnily enough, (to use a "Meg phrase") we had a great night, just the three of us. I thought I would be crazy nuts, but here I am, both kids asleep, actually having time to BLOG for the first time in 3 weeks! This leads me to believe that JEFF is actually the high maintenance one in the family, taking up all of my time at night - not the kids. With him gone, I have all the time in the world to catch up on some of my favorite hobbies!!!! Just kidding. Anyways, quick update on Sophia since it's been awhile. She is thriving these days - she loves playtime, she's giggling, cooing, smiling, reaching for her rings, grasping toys and just recently, lifting her head up while on her tummy. She kicks her little legs all over the place when she is excited. She just ADORES her big brother Evan and smiles every time he talks. She was at the doctor last week and weighs 13.2 lbs. CHUNKY MONKEY!!! She has outgrown 3 month clothes and even the 3-6 month onesies I just bought her don't fit. She is cutting two teeth - the bottom two - not totally through yet, but we can see them and she is constantly mouthing everything. Her gassiness has just about completely subsided as her system has matured. She no longer needs Mylicon gas drops and seems to be doing really well on the Soy formula - she's up to about 35 ounces per day. She is a fantastic sleeper - she's been sleeping through the night from about 9pm to 6am for about 3 weeks now, with only a couple of peeps here and there throughout the night - no feedings though. She naps great too and puts herself to sleep both during the day and at night - we just pop in her "fuff", place her favorite fuzzy pink giraffe blankie against her cheek and she is asleep within 5-10 minutes. After a hectic 3 months, we are finally starting to establish some routines and rituals which Sophia seems to really be responding well to. All in all, at 3 1/2 months old, Sophia is doing great, and Jeff and I feel like we are over the "hump" as far as having a newborn goes. We remember the first 3 months with Evan being the hardest and the same held true for Sophia's first 3 months. But we made it, we all survived, and life is getting a lot more fun for all of us now that the crying has subsided, the hours of straight sleep have increased, and her smiles and laughs are filling our days. Here are a couple of pictures that I took today and a short little video of Sophia during playtime. Enjoy!!
