Last Soccer Game!

Ev wrapped up his soccer season yesterday - he had a GREAT season - the team improved SO much in just 7 or 8 weeks. The games were starting to get more competitive and were so fun to watch! Evan did really well - he definitely has talent and is super fast! He started to get a bit more aggressive this season in going after the ball, following through and sticking with the ball, and became a top scorer for the team (Ok, I know it isn't the Revolution and they are only 6 year olds, but I am still a proud Mom!) Way to go Evan! Here are a couple pics from yesterday's game which included a little "medal ceremony".

Literacy Parade at School

The Mayo School Literacy Parade was Friday and it was SO adorable! It was a gorgeous, sunny, 70 degree day, and the kids all looked so cute. First graders had to make their own hats this year for the parade - based on their favorite book or character from a book. Ev chose the character "Jack" from the "Magic Tree House" chapter books that he loves. The specific book was "Dingoes at Daybreak" and he made a hat that the character Jack wore in the Australian Outback, which is where the setting of the book takes place. It was so fun to watch the kids march - each year the students either dress up as characters from their favorite books, or make posters or hats/costumes from their favorite books. What a great event!

Happy 7th Birthday Evan!!!!

Hard to believe Evan is 7 already!!! He had a great birthday this year - the festivities started last weekend for his "friend party". We were supposed to have his party at Davis Farmland - pony rides, hay rides, animals etc...with about 10 little friends. The morning of the party, Davis Farmland called to say they were closed for the day due to rain. So we quickly switched over to plan B (we didn't actually have a plan B, but came up with one rather quick!!!) The kids had a great time at our house instead, painting pumpkins, bobbing for apples, and playing pin the tail on the black cat. Jeff painted everyone's face and we had pizza and cake. Ev said it was "the best day ever", so we don't think he minded too much in the end that his party plans had changed. On his actual birthday yesterday, we had a small gathering for dinner and cake with Nana, Grammy, Grampy and Uncle Matt. Thanks everyone for coming to celebrate with us! Ev was very excited about all of his gifts this year - a motorized scooter, a real digital camera, new shelves and accessories for his bedroom, books, games and also a new aquarium! He can't wait to buy some fish today after school. Happy Birthday Evan - we love you!!!!
