Evan's Junior Discipleship
Evan had a very special day Sunday - for the last 5 weeks he has been attending a Junior Disciple class with our Pastor at church. The first week they were presented with their own Bible and were taught how to look up and read bible verses. He had homework each week and learned about Communion. This past week he had to write about what Communion meant to him and had a one-on-one meeting with Pastor John prior to Sunday's service. Fortunately, as Evan exclaimed to me when I arrived at church, "Mom, I passed!" Phew! Sunday during the church service Pastor John presented his Bible back to him with his name and date on it, and he took part in his very "first communion". It was very special! And I must admit he looked quite dapper in his "cruise-wear" (that was for Carolyn!!) Yes, thankfully due to his rigorous swim and sports schedule this winter he still fit into the suit we had bought him for our cruise last year. It is amazing how much he has slimmed down from all the activity! Another proud moment for us - Evan sure is giving us a lot of those lately ;) My next post promises to be one of Sophia. I took a video of her dancing yesterday which I will post. I will NOT, however, post pictures of her latest "not so proud moment" which happened last night when she decided to chop her own hair off by herself to tape it to her stuffed animal monkey's head. She decided monkey wanted to have long hair and be able to wear a bow in it. I am still reeling. When this snow storm is over we are heading to my hairdresser to see if she can fix the damage - she will likely be arriving in FL with a layered bobbed hairdo. KIDS!!!!! Anyways, - back to being proud of Evan! Here are some pics and I will try to post a video or two as well. Unfortunately he was on the opposite side of the altar as our pew for communion and there was a boy right in front of him the whole time. You can see him reach for communion though - I didn't think it appropriate to stand up in church to move around to videotape during communion! Enjoy!
