Birthday Fun!

Thank you to my wonderful family and friends for all of the well-wishes today! Much to my surprise, the birthday surprises started Friday afternoon after work. My wonderful husband took Friday off from work and had a special delivery planned - a new patio set - it is beautiful! He spent the day setting up our deck (my spring, summer and fall haven!) and decorating the house with balloons and streamers. The kids are at the age where they get really excited about birthdays (not just their own!) and insisted on having the house all ready when I got home from work on Friday. Evan made me a heart-shaped piƱata which he filled with the rest of his Easter candy, and Sophia helped pick the "theme" for my birthday, which of course included an "Olaf" cake from the movie "Frozen"! I was very surprised when I got home on Friday to find that they had been secretly planning a celebration behind my back! Saturday was all about baseball, with the parade and opening ceremonies all morning. I was able to spend some time last night at the game with Grammy and Grampy which was nice! Today my actual birthday started with coffee on the deck, a Hawaiian music dance party (courtesy of the kids) and then the kids had a special singing performance at church with the choir. We went directly from church to Ev's game and then out to dinner this evening with Nana for my favorite - Mexican food and margaritas! My day ended with a special message from Grandma & Pepere, fresh home from their 2 month hiatus around the world - thank you for that special message! No one sings a better rendition of "Happy Birthday" and it was the perfect ending to a great birthday! Thanks to all for making me feel special today. I am very blessed!

Holden Baseball - Opening Weekend!

It was a fun-filled weekend of baseball, beginning Friday night with the first practice, into Saturday morning's parade and opening ceremonies, and then the 1st games of the season Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Ev did awesome! He debuted last night as starting pitcher and did fantastic! First time the kids are pitching. He has been practicing constantly the last 2 weeks and it has paid off. After today's game, we nicknamed Ev "Big Papi" - all 3 "at bats" were crushed into the outfield! The kids did pretty well last night although it was the 1st game and they were working the kinks out. Today everyone played a lot better - more hits, better throws and more catches. Jeff felt encouraged after today! Let the fun begin - here's to a great season!!

Florida Trip - Part 3 Family Time at Orange Lake

We were able to sneak away for a little family time this trip and it was wonderful! A huge bonus to Jeff traveling on business throughout the year is that he earns Holiday Inn hotel points - we decided to cash in a bunch of these points this year and treated ourselves to a 2 bedroom condo at Orange Lake Vacation Resort. We had a blast! The pool that was outside our room was amazing - we spent 2 1/2 days just swimming and floating down the lazy river, and sipping fruity drinks by the pool! It was so relaxing and wonderful for Jeff and I to have some family vacation time together with Evan and Sophia. The kids haven't stopped talking about the resort and can't wait to go back - they loved the pool and were thrilled that our condo had a Jacuzzi tub which Evan swam in both mornings when he woke up! He has never been in a Jacuzzi tub before (at least not an indoor one!) Their bedroom was complete with their own bathroom and a TV - Evan thought he was a king, waking up and watching cartoons in bed!! Definitely incentive for Jeff to keep traveling for work!! (That's Evan in mid-air in the last couple of pictures - I used my zoom lens to catch Jeff tossing Evan around in the pool!)
